It rained quite a bit in east/southeast Alabama today. There are currently two active flash flood warnings: one for Northwestern Dale County and the other for Chambers and Lee counties.

NWS information about the Dale County Flash Flood Warning:

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee issued one

* Flash flood warning for…
Northwestern Dale County in southeast Alabama…

* Until 5:45 p.m. CDT.

* At 235 a.m. CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms were developing
Heavy rain throughout the warning area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
short.

DANGER… flash flooding from thunderstorms.

EFFECTS…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
Areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well
other poorly drained and low-lying areas.

* Some locations where flash flooding will occur include…
Ozark, Fort Novosel, Enterprise, Level Plains, Newton, Ariton,
Marley Hill, Dill, Dale County Lake, Dillard, Blackwell Field A/p,
Hooper Stage Field, Dean Church Road, Beamon, Greater Salem
Church, Mabson, Arguta, Ewell, Hunt Field and Klondyke Hill.

Central Lee County in east central Alabama…

*Until 6:00 p.m. CDT.

* At 301 a.m. CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms were developing
Heavy rain throughout the warning area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall is 1 to 2 inches per year
Hour. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is possible
the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
short.

Auburn, Opelika, Lanett, Lafayette, La Fayette, Lakeview, Cusseta,
Oak Bowery, Chambers County Lake, Beans Mill, Huguley, Denson,
Auburn University, Beauregard, Fredonia, Amity Park, Veasey Creek
Park, Mount Jefferson, Lanett Municipal Airport and Robert G.
Pitts Airport.

Remember: do not drive on flooded roads. A lot of rain has fallen in the last few hours and these storms are expected to cause significant flash flooding. There will be further rainfall this afternoon which is expected to worsen conditions. Even in areas where there is currently no flash flood warning, flooding can occur at any time.
