Starbucks' 2024 holiday menu is here

As soon as there's a chill in the air and Mariah Carey hits the airwaves, we're craving a little holiday cheer in our morning latte. We were already blessed with festive deals at Dunkin' late last week and were wondering what holiday surprises other coffee spots had in store. Luckily we don't have to wait too long.

According to a company press release shared with Food & Wine, Starbucks' holiday menu will roll out nationwide on November 7. The seasonal lineup includes five holiday coffees – which of course also includes the returning Alum Peppermint Mocha – as well as a new refresher, a savory pastry and three new sweet treats.

For more than two decades, Peppermint Mocha has ushered in the holiday season at Starbucks. This creamy, fan-favorite latte with mocha sauce and mint syrup is topped with whipped cream and sweet curls of dark chocolate. It's available hot or iced, but you can also order it as a blended Frappuccino if you're craving something sweet. The seasonal menu also includes the returning Caramel Brulée Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, Iced Sugar Cookie Almond Milk Latte and Iced Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai.

If coffee isn't your thing, now you have a choice. Soon we'll see the first-ever holiday refresher that can be customized in three different ways. The Cran-Merry Orange Refresher features flavors of orange, cranberry, and warm spices (like cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg)—and, according to Starbucks' tasting notes, real cranberries on the tasty side. You can also order it with a base of lemonade or even coconut milk. The latter is ideal for anyone who wants the creaminess of the original pink drink in a holiday-friendly format.

“These drinks were heavily inspired by the idea of a celebratory punch as a sensory experience – the look, the aroma, the taste,” said lead beverage developer Billy Altieri. “We wanted to create a drink that combined all of these sensory elements in one cup.”

Six seasonal cold foams are also on the menu, including new gingerbread and salted pecan options. Otherwise, you can refine your cold brew with peppermint chocolate, sugar cookies, chestnut pralines and caramel brulée creme cold foam. The Seattle-based coffee chain also recommends topping the Cran-Merry Refresher with vanilla cold foam, which we leave up to your discretion.

As for the food, we can expect all the usual suspects (like Cranberry Bliss Bar and Sugar Plum Cheese Danish) alongside some newbies. The Turkey Sage Danish, a savory pastry filled with turkey sausage and bechamel sauce, launches Thursday. There are also the Dark Toffee Gugelhupf sprinkled with sprinkles, the Penguin Cookie and the Snowman Cake Pop.

Seasonal offerings aren't the only changes coming to the coffee chain – last week the company announced it was reducing add-on fees for non-dairy customizations on all drinks. However, there are no new espresso drinks in this year's holiday lineup, which could potentially signal another new direction for Starbucks' menu strategy. After all, recently appointed CEO Brian Niccol has already made changes to streamline the chain's operations, including streamlining the menu to refocus on the company's core offerings, which could spell trouble for the controversial Oleato line.

Would you rather enjoy your coffee in the comfort of your own home? The chain is also releasing three limited-edition coffee blends made from coffee grounds that will be available on store shelves through the end of the year: the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Holiday blends.

Between cheaper oat milk lattes and the return of fan-favorite lattes, it seems there's enough cheer (and caffeine) to keep us full through the holidays.
