Pittsburgh Steelers are in first place in the AFC

After their victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3, the Pittsburgh Steelers moved to 3-0 for the first time since 2020, remaining in pole position in the AFC North and sharing the best record in the conference with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Steelers showed an excellent defensive performance in their 20-10 victory over the Chargers, allowing only 168 yards on offense and recording five sacks.

Pittsburgh's offense also put in its best performance of the young season, breaking the 20-point mark for the first time and finishing with 346 yards.

Next week, the Steelers travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts before returning home for a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.

Elsewhere in the division, the Baltimore Ravens avoided their first 0-3 start since 2015 by beating the Dallas Cowboys 28-25 on the road. They led 28-6 with less than 10 minutes left before nearly collapsing in heartbreaking fashion, though they did just enough in the end to pull out the win.

With a record of 1-2, Baltimore faces a difficult test in the fourth week of Sunday Night Football: the home game of the Buffalo Bills.

A week after their satisfying win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Cleveland Browns fell to 1-2 on Sunday after a shocking 21-15 home loss to the New York Giants. Their offense managed just 212 yards and conceded eight sacks on the day.

However, Cleveland has a chance to turn things around quickly as it faces the Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders on the road in Weeks 4 and 5, respectively.

The Cincinnati Bengals will look to avoid their first 0-3 start since 2019 when they face the Commanders at home on Monday night. They suffered a hard-fought 26-25 loss to the Chiefs in Week 2.

Cincinnati travels to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 4 before returning home to face Baltimore in Week 5.

The Steelers are the only team in the NFL, along with the Seattle Seahawks, to have a two-game lead in their respective division after three weeks.

ESPN's Football Power Index currently gives Pittsburgh an 80% chance of making the postseason. Those are the third-highest odds in the AFC and the fourth-highest in the NFL. Interestingly, though, that also means they have the sixth-lowest odds of any team to win their division.

Regardless, the Steelers have to be pretty comfortable with their current position. They couldn't have had a better start to the season and have looked impressive every step of the way. Historically, teams that start 3-0 have about a 75% chance of making the playoffs, so it's safe to say they're trending in the right direction.
