Chuba Hubbard on how Dave Canales won the respect of the Carolina Panthers

Chuba Hubbard on how Dave Canales won the respect of the Carolina Panthers

1 minute, 59 seconds Read

Dave Canales has some star performances under his belt. From unheralded JV coach to JUCO assistant to NFL position coach to offensive coordinator to universally praised head coach in the National Football League after promoting Andy Dalton to starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers.

Despite all this, Canales has remained true to himself. On a recent episode of Up & Adams, Kay Adams' show on FanDuel TV, both the host and the Panthers running back weighed in on the impressive rookie head coach and his ability to lead and command a group of men.

Adams began by discussing her brief interactions with Canales and how she immediately accepted him as head coach. “I met him and really liked him. He's a good man. He is someone who gives orders. I look into his eyes and think, 'I understand'.” She then set the table for Hubbard to talk about how Canales motivates his team, and Hubbard gave a glowing review of his head coach.

“He’s definitely a great man. I mean, one thing about him is that he's authentic. He is authentic in everything he does and that is something I can respect…One thing I have learned from him is that he is true to what he does, what he says and how he acts .”

“He shows up with energy every day. It's never a difference whether it's a good day or a bad day or however you want to put it. He's the same guy every day and I can respect that. So far that's all I've done.” To be honest, I have good things to say.

Everything people say about Dave Canales is fantastic. His former players like Russell Okung and Baker Mayfield have taken to social media and interviews to praise the young ball coach. Mayfield called Canales an “optimistic tyrant,” a fitting nickname for the man tasked with revitalizing the breathless Carolina Panthers franchise, which has been a pothole in recent years.
