FSU football fans react to SMU knocking out FSU in their ACC opener

Southern Methodist defeated the FSU Seminoles on Saturday night after a competitive first half. The Mustangs led 14-9 at halftime and capitalized on several turnovers by DJ Uiagalelei to pull away for a 42-16 victory in the second half. Uiagalelei threw three interceptions (only two were his fault). He was 12 of 23 for 222 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.

The FSU offense seemed to have some life on its second drive, scoring a touchdown to tie the game 7-7. However, it was the only offensive goal in the first half. FSU secured a safety when the SMU center threw the ball over the punter's head and left the end zone.

The turning point in the game was FSU's first drive of the second half. DJ Uiaglalei threw a perfect strike that hit tight end Kyle Morlock in his hands, but the ball went into the air and was intercepted. Three plays later, SMU scored a touchdown to extend its lead to 21-9. The FSU offense finished with a three-pointer and SMU extended its lead to 28-9.

FSU managed to cut the lead to 28-16 and hit a three-pointer on defense, but an incorrect facemask call gave the ball right back to the SMU offense. This was the game when FSU's defense all but gave up, and who could blame them after the offense played so poorly?

SMU had 467 total yards and was 8 of 15 on third down.

FSU couldn't avoid it. They gave stupid punishments, and some of them were committed by high school students. Brock Glenn came into the game after Uiagalelei suffered a finger injury in the fourth quarter. He didn't look much better and was under constant pressure.

This FSU team is terrible and probably won't make a bowl game after going undefeated in the 2023 regular season. This is inexcusable.
