The ex-wife of Kamala Harris' husband has once again defended the vice president on social media after she was attacked for the fact that she does not have biological children.

Kerstin Emhoff rushed to Harris' aid after Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders mocked the Democratic presidential candidate at a town hall event with Donald Trump in Flint, Michigan, on Tuesday because he did not have any biological children.

“My children keep me humble,” Sanders, who also served as White House press secretary under Trump, said at the event. “Unfortunately, there is nothing with Kamala Harris that keeps her humble.”

Emhoff immediately spoke out against the comments on social media on Tuesday evening.

“Cole and Ella inspire us to make the world a better place,” she wrote. “I do that through storytelling. Kamala Harris has spent her entire career working for the people, for ALL families. That's pretty humbling.”

Kerstin Emhoff was married to Harris' current husband Doug Emhoff for 16 years and they had two children: Cole and Ella Emhoff. The two separated in 2010 and Doug married Harris four years later. Since then, the Vice President has been a father to Cole and Ella, whom she affectionately calls “Momala.”

Kerstin has always supported Harris politically and personally, including attending her inauguration as vice president in 2021. In July, she defended Harris against attacks by Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance that she was a “childless cat lady.” She told CNN that Kamala has been “co-parenting” with her and Doug since their children were teenagers.

“I love our patchwork family and am grateful to have them in our family,” said Kerstin.

Ella, a 25-year-old model, fashion designer and artist, also defended her stepmother on Instagram: “How can you be 'childless' when you have such sweet kids like Cole and I?”

Vance's comments about the “childless cat lady” come from a resurfaced Fox News clip from 2021. The Ohio senator claimed: “A bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy with their own lives and the choices they've made and therefore want to make the rest of the country unhappy too.”

“Look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC, the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children,” he continued.

Several celebrities also spoke out against the comments, including Friends with Jennifer Anniston as the star.

“I really can’t believe this is coming from a potential Vice President of the United States,” Anniston wrote on Instagram.

“All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to have children of her own one day. I hope she doesn't have to resort to IVF as a second option,” she continued. “Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
