Bank of America customer accounts show no problems

Bank of America was hit by an outage Wednesday afternoon that resulted in some customer accounts showing zero balances.

According to Downdetector, which monitors technical glitches, the problem began around 12:47 p.m.

The bank's helpline account on X directed customers to an automated link where they could request assistance.

BofA is the second-largest U.S. bank after JPMorgan and serves 69 million domestic consumer and small business customers.

In a statement to FOX Business, the company said:

“Some customers today are experiencing a problem accessing their account and balance information. These issues are currently being addressed and are mostly resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Still, Downdector's monitoring site showed that technical outages were still being reported as of 7 p.m. ET.

BofA shares ended the session little changed, up more than 16% this year, slightly underperforming the S&P 500's nearly 20% gain.
