HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – George Strait will be performing at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, and it's all for a good cause.

Country Music Hall of Fame songwriter Dean Dillon is bringing some of Nashville's biggest stars to the Rocket City to honor his career.

Dillon has teamed up with Concerts for a Cause to bring music to the children and veterans of Huntsville during this celebration of his career.

“I’m just happy that we’re investing in the kids here in Huntsville and also in our veterans,” Dillion said.

Approximately 300 guitars were donated to Madison County schools and Patriot Mobile also distributed 100 tickets to local veterans.

Dr. Ed Nichols said he was pleased with the donations because he believes music is an important part of education.

“As a superintendent with two degrees in music, music is very important to me. Without my music teachers, I wouldn’t be here today,” said Dr. Nichols.

The celebrations began at VBC on Tuesday evening with the VIP dinner, songs and stories

The VIP dinner will be catered by Omaha Steaks and they will donate 10 percent of online purchases for next year's concerts to charity.
