ST. LOUIS – The longer the Wilderness stays away from full strength, the more unfazed she seems to be by the situation.

Take her most recent appearance.

After downing a forward in their third game in four nights and still having their captain and best center, the Wild picked up a 4-1 win over the Blues on Tuesday at Enterprise Center – what else? – due to a crucial shorthanded goal from the penalty shootout.

They enter the much-needed three-day break at a respectable 2-0-2.

Not only have the Wild not suffered any losses in regulation yet, they have not trailed at any point.

The tone was set by goalkeeper Filip Gustavsson, who, in his best start of the season, stopped 27 St. Louis shots before firing into an empty net with nine seconds left. It was the first goal by a goalie in franchise history.

“They're probably trying to get me to get a whistle and get a faceoff in our zone,” said Gustavsson, who along with Linus Ullmark were the only Swedish goalies to score in NHL history. Ullmark scored with Boston on February 25, 2023. “You just put it right in the glove and try to get it off as quickly as possible. It was perfect on the ice and I just tried to shoot it as hard as I could.”

In three games, Gustavsson has saved 91 of 96 shots.
