Two drivers, including a Massachusetts man, were killed and a third person was injured Wednesday in a fiery crash on Interstate 95 in Greenland, New Hampshire, that closed the highway in both directions for several hours, authorities said.

Steve Le, 24, of Methuen, and Leslie Lynn, 58, of Roanoke, Virginia, were pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger in the car driven by Lynn was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to a statement from the New Hampshire State Policy.

At 1:13 p.m., troopers responded to reports of a crash at mile marker 9.2, the statement said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2023 Toyota Camry driven by Le was traveling northbound when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median and entered the southbound lane, the statement said. The vehicle collided with a 2019 Ford Econoline driven by Lynn, which then crossed the median from the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes before stopping at the tree line, the statement said.

Authorities said the northbound and southbound lanes were closed near the scene of the accident for about four hours while emergency crews cleared debris and investigated the accident.

The troopers were assisted by members of the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and the New England Truck Center, the Greenland Fire and Police Department and the Portsmouth Police Department, the statement said.

The crash is still under investigation.
