Eden Prairie police find the body that matches the description of the missing boy

Eden Prairie police say they have found a body matching the description of the missing 11-year-old boy with autism.

What we know

According to police, a body matching the description of the missing boy was recovered around 9:30 p.m. after he went missing on Sunday evening.

“It is with heavy hearts that we report that a body matching the description of Mohamed Mohamed, the 11-year-old autistic child who went missing today, emerged from a pond nearby at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 13th was recovered from Mohamed's residence. 20,” Eden Prairie police said in a news release.

Authorities said they had stopped searching for the boy.

Eden Prairie police, along with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Water Patrol and the Hennepin County Coroner, are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The boy was last seen near his home in Cardiff Lane at around 5.45pm on Saturday.

What we don't know

The circumstances that led to the boy's disappearance are currently unknown.

According to police, there is currently no further information about the incident.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Mohamed’s friends and family at this incredibly difficult time. We would also like to thank everyone who participated in the search efforts,” Eden Prairie police said.
