On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers' 2024-25 NBA regular season ends with a clash against one of the bottom two teams in last year's Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves traded two future draft picks for the rights to former Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham, who was selected with the eighth pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. As part of a larger deal, Minnesota also dealt expensive All-Star starting power forward Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks in exchange for a future draft pick, three-time All-Star power forward Julius Randle (a Demotion from Towns, but still). a solid talent) and reserve wing Donte DiVincenzo. Dillingham and DiVincenzo help bolster the Timberwolves' depth, while the Randle move allows the Timberwolves to retain a lower-cost forward but have more flexibility moving forward.

Meanwhile, the Lakers let free agents Spencer Dinwiddie and Taurean Prince leave in free agency, saw all the other minimum-signing veterans pick up their player options, and recruited guards Dalton Knecht and Bronny James, son of the 20-time All-Star -Lakers combo forward LeBron James. Los Angeles' biggest offseason moves were probably trading two-year head coach Darvin Ham for rookie head coach JJ Redick and signing LeBron James for four years and $101.4 million.
