The Michigan-born NBA veteran could miss the Pistons-Pacers matchup

On Wednesday evening, the Detroit Pistons will face the Indiana Pacers in the first of four matchups in the 2024-2025 NBA season. While the game could serve as a return home for Isaiah Jackson, the Pacers have the veteran frontcourt player on the pre-match injury report.

According to the Pacers, it is questionable whether Jackson is suffering from a right groin strain. Currently, the Pacers player is viewed as a potential game-changer.

Entering his fourth year, Jackson has nearly 160 games under his belt. While he started 30 games over the course of his career, Jackson became a primary backup option for the Pacers during his tenure.

In 2021, Jackson entered the NBA after a one-year stint at Kentucky. As a freshman, he averaged eight points, seven rebounds and three blocks per game. After a successful first try in the NCAA, Jackson was taken 22nd overall in the NBA Draft. He immediately debuted with the Pacers and appeared in the team's season opener.

Last season, Jackson shot a career-high 67 percent from the field. He had seven points and four rebounds in 59 games for the Pacers. During the Eastern Conference Finals at Indiana, Jackson averaged ten minutes of playing time in 15 meetings.

The Pontiac native has faced the Pistons 10 times in his career. Against Detroit, Jackson averaged 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game.

It's unclear whether or not he'll get the opportunity to play his 11th game against Detroit on Wednesday night. Should Jackson miss action, his next return to Michigan will not be until January 16th.

On Wednesday, the Pacers and Pistons will kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET.
