Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola speaks to TNT Sports:

“We played well. I didn't expect them to defend so deeply. They played attacking in the other games, but they defend so deep that it's difficult. When we won the game 2-0, it was fine.”

On Erling Haaland's goal: “I saw it when the ball came in. It's incredible. He is a statue. So big and so flexible. I like it, he has this sense of humor. Very similar to Dortmund a few years ago. Incredible. I don't know it. I don't know which was more difficult, both very difficult.

“He had some chances but it is difficult. He's literally on the penalty spot with three defenders and two midfielders – he's always surrounded by five or six players. He’s so fast too, which is maybe why teams defend so deep.”

On replacing Haaland before the penalty: “We play a lot of games and I had to do this. He understands the decisions and is so generous with the team.”

On John Stones' goal: “If Erling is not available, John can play as a striker. Gerard Pique had an incredible feel for goals at Barca and John is the same. He has already scored a few goals. He’s back and I’m happy for him.”

For celebrations: “Sometimes the opponents slow down and slow down. I was happy that we pressed well. It was just satisfaction.
