“DWTS” judge Carrie Ann Inaba calls on the audience after Anna Delvey’s Cha-Cha

It was an interesting night in Dancing with the stars Ballroom when controversial candidate Anna Delvey entered the dance floor with her professional partner to the Cha-Cha Ezra Sosa with a jeweled ankle bracelet.

Anna danced last and after the performance Carrie Ann Inaba pointed out that there was an “energy shift” in the room as soon as Delvey stepped on the dance floor. Before giving her critique, she urged the audience to focus on dancing and “give him a chance.”

“I knew I could do better,” said Delvey parade on the red carpet after her performance Sabrina Carpenter's “Espresso.” “I did better in rehearsal, but it wasn't the worst thing I could have done. It was my first time performing in front of a live audience with all the noises and lights and people.”

Anna and Ezra received a score of 18 and as Julianne Hough When I asked her how she felt, she said, “I'm glad I don't have to do that dance again.”

parade asked her what she meant by that. It seemed a strange comment.

Anna replied: “I thought, 'I'm glad I've got it behind me. I know how it feels.' At first I wasn't nervous, but then I got nervous as my time got closer because I was last and I could see everyone else and the tension was so high. In the moment I thought, 'What if I fall and I'm in the final and I'm the worst?' Now I know how it feels and I'm ready for next week.”

Next week is Oscar week, when the couples perform to songs from Oscar-nominated films, and two people will go home since no one was sent home tonight.

Dancing with the stars returns next Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+.
