Did Wideout's social media post lead to the Patriots' dismissal? Report sheds light on the matter

The New England Patriots announced Tuesday afternoon that they have released wide receiver Jalen Reagor from the team's practice squad. The timing of this move was interesting.

Just hours earlier, Reagor had posted a meme on social media suggesting that he thought of himself as much better than the situation he was in. The now-deleted post made the rounds shortly after Reagor's firing, with fans wondering if he had been a factor in New England's personnel decision.

Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald shed light on the matter Tuesday evening, reporting that Reagor's release had no “direct impact.”

“Reagor's firing was not the direct result of the social media post,” Kyed wrote. “The speedy wide receiver had expressed similar sentiments internally in the lead-up to Tuesday's roster move, according to a source.”

Countless Patriots fans thought Reagor's post was delusional and mocked him for the allusion.

Reagor joined the Patriots in 2023 after the 2020 first-round pick failed to find success with the Philadelphia Eagles or Minnesota Vikings. He caught seven passes for 138 yards in 11 games and had his biggest impact on special teams.

Reagor did not make New England's 53-man roster after training camp and was not selected for the first two games of the regular season.
