One-sided statistics illustrate the Kings' 117-115 loss to the Timberwolves

The Sacramento Kings had a chance to win when Keegan Murray hit a stunning three-point attempt, but fell 117-115 to the Minnesota Timberwolves on opening night in Sacramento.

It was a similar story to last season when the T-Wolves shot 20 of 50 (40 percent) from distance. The Kings' struggle to defend the three-point line was a major problem last season and one that the Kings need to figure out quickly as the new season begins.

What makes it so important is that Sacramento shot decently from distance at 37.9 percent, but only made 11 three-pointers.

It's hard to recover from the team having a 27-point lead behind the arc. Sacramento made 35 free throw attempts to gain ground, going 28 for 80 percent, but the three-point shot may need to be offset.

For the Kings, Keegan Murray stood out with 23 points and 11 rebounds. He continued to relentlessly smash the screen from the corners and looked confident on offense.

His ten three-point attempts will be necessary for the Kings to continue improving their appearance from beyond the arc.

Overall, the Kings offense still appears to be coming together. They only had 21 assists on 38 made baskets. Your offense is at its best when everyone is moving and passing the ball.

Assist numbers will likely increase as the season progresses, but are a statistic to keep an eye on in the early stages of the season.
