Matthew Stafford: Thursday night, what we envisioned for the offense

The Rams have been the subject of numerous trade rumors in recent days, but on Thursday night they took the field with the team they wanted to field at the start of the season and the results were positive.

Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua returned from injuries and combined for 12 catches and 157 yards, Matthew Stafford threw four touchdown passes and Kyren Williams had 116 yards from scrimmage in a 28-20 win over the Vikings. Kupp and Nacua were out for extended periods before the game, and Stafford noted that the performance was exactly what the team had in mind from the start.

“It is what you imagined when training camp started, and it’s nice to have these guys back,” Stafford said, via the team’s website. “I've said it before, but I really think it was great for our entire team. It was obviously great for our offense. I was so happy and proud to have these guys back on the field with us, but also great for our defense, our special teams. Everyone can feel that when these guys are back.”

The win moved the Rams to 3-4 and postgame discussion suggested they would not reshape the team through trades. So it seems to be hoped that Thursday night's success is a sign of things to come in Los Angeles.
