MSU Running Back Adam Jones Named to Stats Perform Jerry Rice Award Watch List

BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State running back Adam Jones was named to the Stats Perform 2024 Jerry Rice Award Watch List as one of the top 30 freshman players in NCAA Division I FCS football.

Named after legendary Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, this is the 14th time the award has been presentedTh Season. Previous recipients include Eastern Washington's Cooper Kupp, Chase Edmonds, Trey Lance, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. To be eligible, a player must be classified as a freshman by his conference in his first academic year, or in his second if he meets the requirements to play in fewer than four regular season games. This is the first list in a season and players may be added before a national media panel selects the winners of the national Stats Perform awards.

Jones, a redshirt freshman from Missoula, has rushed for 477 yards in his seven games, averaging 68.1 yards per game and 6.4 yards per carry. In the opening game at New Mexico, he made one of the standout plays of Montana State's season when he sprinted 93 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown that gave the team the victory from a deficit.

The 2024 Jerry Rice Award will be announced on December 4th and presented at the Stats Perform National Awards Banquet on January 4th in Frisco, Texas. The 30 players on this year's first watch list:
