The Michigan Wolverines are in trouble.

They are 4-3 and could very well be 4-4 when the clock hits zero against Michigan State, a team that is far more positive than the reigning national champions. The Wolverines were coming off a loss while the Spartans were coming off their biggest and most convincing win of the season.

It won't get any easier for Michigan, which still has to face No. 1 Oregon, No. 4 Ohio State and a red-hot No. 13 Indiana. They could easily lose six games this season. Seven if Michigan State wins on Saturday, and all indicators point to momentum on the Spartans' side.

Von Lozon of Michigan's SB Nation thinks the Wolverines should push through and look to 2025, effectively waving the white flag.

“Moore may be in a hole, but it's not one he can't get out of,” Lozon said wrote. “He needs to start making some tough decisions and look ahead to next season and beyond. Here's what he should do in the future. First, look in the mirror. What are you doing?” Isn’t it working? Do whatever will benefit the program in the long run. From the coordinators to the analysts, everyone needs to be considered Analyze the best option to carry bench Jack Tuttle into the future and see what you get from rookie Jadyn Davis. I don't care if Davis is “not ready” – if he's not good enough For the three quarterbacks we've seen this year, will he ever be ready to be quarterback at a program with high expectations like Michigan? Move him forward and keep him off the field.

The last idea Lozon had was similar to the Michigan faithful's desperate response to their abysmal quarterback situation.

“Start targeting quarterbacks now, whether they are already in college or a senior player in high school,” he wrote. “Have a conversation with your biggest NIL donors (Dave Portnoy seems eager to get Michigan a new quarterback) and let them explore your best options. Whether it's five-star LSU commit Bryce Underwood or someone in the starting lineup at the top, get someone who can actually play the position instead of relying on a former walk-on “Having to have little experience since his junior year in 2019, a guy who was supposed to play linebacker, and a guy who has been in college for seven years (they call them doctors).”

The situation in Ann Arbor is dire, a significant turnaround from a year ago.
