Navy's 6 turnovers reduce the chance of an upset

This game between Notre Dame and Navy was different than most. Navy entered the contest undefeated, scoring a ton of points on a weekly basis and expecting a big upset behind QB Blake Horvath, who was having a great season prior to this affair.

But Notre Dame was the better team. The sportier team. The deeper team. And the most important thing in this game is the team that played the cleaner game.

Navy's six turnovers made it virtually impossible for a surprise offensive to become a reality, as the Irish seized the opportunity and entered the final break of the year with a resounding 51-14 victory.

Notre Dame has gotten much better as the season has gone on

After the debacle in Week 2, Notre Dame didn’t lose. The Irish's current six-game winning streak is the longest in the Freeman era and the 7-1 record is Marcus' best record of any of his three times in charge of the program at this point in the season.

Notre Dame can rest at halftime before heading into the final stretch of the season, where the Irish are favored 11-1 in every game and a spot in the CFP.

Despite the midseason rash of injuries, Notre Dame continued to improve as the season progressed, inspiring confidence that the Irish still have the best ball ahead of them.

The Notre Dame team, fans and media should all enjoy the break before Florida State comes to town. The middle part of this season was a stressful affair that the Irish handled without any problems. This is no small thing and deserves recognition.
