Matt LaFleur's track record, Jordan Love's TD streak on the line against the Jaguars

GREEN BAY – One day, Matt LaFleur wants to join the list of head coaches who have won Super Bowls, and he will pursue that goal as tirelessly as possible.

Until he gets there, he'll have to settle for a damn good record against coaches who have won Super Bowls, because one Sunday he'll face Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Pederson.

Pederson, the Packers' former backup QB, won a Super Bowl as the Eagles' head coach during the 2017 season. Since then, he and LaFleur have faced off twice, splitting the two games (Philadelphia won in 2019, Green Bay won in 2020).

Overall, LaFleur is 13-5 against head coaches who have won the Super Bowl – with matches counted after those coaches win the Super Bowl, not before.

The record is broken down as follows: 3-0 against Sean McVay; 2-0 against Pete Carroll and Mike McCarthy (including a playoff win against both); 1-0 against Bill Belichick and John Harbaugh; 1-1 against Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin and Pederson; and 1-2 against Sean Payton.

Payton is the only one LaFleur has practiced against with multiple teams before Pederson on Sunday. Payton coached the Saints in two games against the Packers in 2020 and 2021 and then beat them with the Broncos last season.

Barring any coaching changes in the league, the Packers and LaFleur will face Baltimore/Harbaugh, Dallas/McCarthy and Pittsburgh/Tomlin again next season. Green Bay will also face an AFC West team that could be Kansas City/Reid or Denver/Payton again, and an NFC West team that could be LA Rams/McVay again, depending on where the teams are in their respective leagues Season land division standings in 2024.

On the other hand, quarterback Jordan Love has his own impressive brand that he'll be looking to build on Sunday against the Jaguars.

Love has thrown two or more touchdown passes in nine consecutive regular-season games dating back to last year. As he looks to extend his streak to double digits, he has a chance to join an elite company.

If Love's streak reaches 10 games, he would become just the fourth QB in league history with more than two TD passes in 10 or more consecutive games before turning 26, according to NFL Research.

The others are Patrick Mahomes (14 games, 2018-19), former Packers star Brett Favre (12, '94-95) and Dan Marino (10, 1984). Love turns 26 next week.

Favre's 12-game winning streak, which ended in the first of his three MVP seasons in 1995, is the second longest in franchise history. Aaron Rodgers holds the team record with a streak of 13, scored in the first 13 games of 2011 as he won the first of his four MVPs.

The love streak began in Week 15 last season. If you include the playoffs, the streak of more than two TD passes is actually 11 games, as he threw three TDs in the wild-card win over Dallas last January and then two more in the divisional loss in San Francisco.

If you include the playoffs, only two QBs in the league since 2020 have a double-digit streak of more than two TD passes – Mahomes and Tom Brady.
