Veteran safety Adrian Amos will make his debut with the 49ers on Sunday night.

The 49ers signed Amos and kicker Anders Carlson from the practice squad on Saturday to be available for their Week 8 game against the Dallas Cowboys at Levi's Stadium.

Carlson was added to the practice squad following injuries to 49ers kickers Jake Moody and Matthew Wright. Moody is expected back after the bye week after suffering an upper ankle sprain during a tackle in the game against the Arizona Cardinals on October 6th.

Then Wright suffered a shoulder injury during a tackle on a kickoff return on October 10 against the Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers placed Wright on injured reserve.

Carlson made both field goal attempts, including a 55-yard long goal, but missed an extra point in the 49ers' 28-18 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week.

Amos joined the 49ers practice squad two weeks ago. He is expected to play his 10th NFL season. He began his career with four years in Chicago and four more years with the Green Bay Packers.

The 49ers need safety as Talanoa Hufanga is on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to repair wrist ligament damage.

“I know he’s trying to come back this season,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said of Hufanga. “That’s his plan, that’s his hope. And I know he’s going to be on IR for at least a couple more weeks and we’ll see how he feels after that and whether he can make it or not.”

Amos will likely fill a backup role behind starters Ji'Ayir Brown and freshman Malik Mustapha.
