Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry missed the 112-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers early Sunday night after twisting his ankle.

Curry injured his ankle twice in the second half of the contest at the Chase Center in San Francisco. He briefly left the game but returned to the pitch a few minutes later and appeared completely fine. But then, as Curry tried to put a screen in the corner, he rolled his left ankle hard.

Curry immediately jumped in pain and limped straight off the field and into the locker room.

The Warriors shut him out a few minutes later. Details of his injury are unknown, but an MRI scan of his ankle is scheduled to be performed on Sunday evening. Warriors coach Steve Kerr described the injury as “mild to moderate.”

Curry finished the night with 18 points, six assists and four rebounds. He shot 6 of 11 from the field and 4 of 7 from behind the arc.

The Warriors entered Sunday night's game with a perfect 2-0 record this season. They opened the season with a 36-point win over the Portland Trail Blazers, in which Curry was one rebound away from a triple-double, and then beat the Utah Jazz by 41 points on Friday.

The Clippers led most of Sunday night and earned their eight-point win. James Harden dropped 23 points and 11 assists to lead the team, and Ivica Zubac finished the game with 23 points and 17 rebounds. Norman Powell also added 20 points. The Clippers are now 2-1 this year, with their only loss coming in overtime against the Phoenix Suns in the season opener.

Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors with 29 points, and Jonathan Kuminga added 12 points and five rebounds. Kevon Looney was the only other Warriors player to score in double figures, as he had 10 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

The Warriors next host the New Orleans Pelicans in back-to-back matchups starting Tuesday night.
