The San Francisco 49ers roster just can't seem to get healthy this year. And star far away Deebo Samuel has recently returned to the field after recently battling pneumonia. Unfortunately for 49ers fans, Samuel suffered an injury on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys. According to NBC's Melissa Stark, who updated fans on his injury status, it is questionable whether he will return to the game.

“Mike, we talked all night about the 49ers' health issues. Well, at the start of the game we saw Deebo Samuel and the athletic training team. They worked on him. Apply warming lotion to his left wrist. We also saw him go into the medical tent a few minutes ago with the head athletic trainer and the team doctor. Official statement from the team: It is questionable whether he is suffering from a rib injury,” explained Stark.

The 49ers ended up winning the game 30-24 after the Cowboys fought back to make things more interesting at the end. But San Francisco kneeled the ball and ran out the clock in the final minute.

Deebo Samuel was hospitalized with pneumonia

San Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel was hospitalized for pneumonia and fluid in the lungs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Monday.

Samuel missed Sunday's Week 7 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs (6-0) battling an illness he contracted during pregame drills. He left the game early after he was seen on the sidelines wearing an oxygen mask and consulting a doctor. Samuel played just four snaps in the 28-18 loss.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Samuel had “difficulty breathing,” which led to his ejection from the game.

“Sore throat, stomach, just really tired,” Shanahan said after the game. “He was having a hard time breathing, he couldn't catch his breath… He kept trying to get through it. But when he had problems with breathing and everything, we had to shut him down.”
