Jayden Daniels: It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience

1 minute, 18 seconds Read

When the Commanders lined up for their final offensive play against the Bears on Sunday, there were no other plays taking place, so there were plenty of people watching as Jayden Daniels' final pass landed in the end zone.

However, Daniels was not one of them. After struggling for more than 12 seconds to evade pressure and give his receivers a chance to advance downfield, he delivered a Hail Mary as time expired and had to listen for the reaction to know his pass Wide receiver Noah Brown hit the end zone for an improbable 18-15 win.

“I just heard people screaming and our sideline rushing down the field. That is How did I know that?” Daniels said, via John Keim of ESPN.com. “This is something of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Not many people experience something like that.”

Daniels was unable to play Sunday because of a rib injury, and the Commanders couldn't beat the Bears despite having several chances to score touchdowns on conventional plays throughout the afternoon. When the Bears scored with 25 seconds left, it looked like it would add up to a painful defeat, but Daniels' final throw ensured that elation was the only feeling felt by anyone rooting for Sunday night had made the Commanders strong.
