Nick Bosa cuts short interview with 49ers teammates to make statement about Donald Trump after Cowboys win

San Francisco 49ers hard-hitting defensive end Nick Bosa sported the “Make America Great Again” hat following the team’s victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football just days before the 2024 election.

NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark was interviewing quarterback Brock Purdy, tight end George Kittle and running back Isaac Guerendo when Bosa, 27, jumped in to show his support for former President Trump.

The star pass rusher appeared behind Purdy and wordlessly pointed to his white and gold MAGA hat before running away from the camera.

“Okay, Nick Bosa with a message,” Stark said, laughing at the interruption as his teammates grinned and giggled at the stunt.

His teammates did not comment on the stunt.

Speaking at the podium after the game, Bosa was asked if he was showing off the hat and whether it was a “political statement” ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

“I won’t talk about it too much, but I think it’s an important time,” Bosa said.

He appears to be one of the few active NFL players supporting a presidential candidate this election season, joining Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, who endorsed Trump earlier this year.

Bosa has never shied away from showing his support for the 45th president.

The former Ohio State defensive end was selected second overall by the 49ers in 2019 and received a congratulatory message from then-President Trump, telling him to “always stay true to yourself.”

“Great talent! San Francisco will embrace you, but most importantly, always stay true to yourself. Make America Great Again!” Trump posted on X – officially Twitter.

However, before being drafted, the four-time Pro Bowler said he was forced to delete some tweets expressing support for President Trump.

“I had to,” he told ESPN. “There’s a chance I could end up in San Francisco.”

His deleted tweets included statements in which he called former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick a “clown” for kneeling during the national anthem.

According to SFGate, Bosa was also quoted as saying he was a “big fan” of the former commander in chief when Trump was running for president in 2016.

“Yeah, big fan,” Bosa said at the time, according to the outlet. “He brings a charisma that no other candidate in my life has had.”

Bosa, a Fort Lauderdale native, tweeted, “I love this man,” while retweeting a video of Trump's weekly address.

He also posted a photo of himself giving a thumbs up next to a cardboard cutout of Trump.

Earlier this year, the NFL star was also seen posing for a photo with Trump at a UFC event alongside Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and defensive end Sam Hubbard.

He recorded three tackles, a sack and three QB hits in Sunday night's 30-24 win over the Cowboys.

The 2022 Defensive Player of the Year now has 4.5 sacks in the 2024 season.
