Takeaways

Cavaliers: Coach Kenny Atkinson warned that the schedule would become more difficult after the start of Toronto-Detroit-Washington, but his team handled the first test quite well, even if it came nowhere near the 128 points it scored in that one averaged three games.

Knicks: The Knicks should have enough talent to overcome losses from Brunson, who went to the locker room in the third quarter after apparently hurting his ankle on a shot, but he was able to do so on a night where he was only 8 was too 24, couldn't make it.

Key moment

The shot of the game didn't count. After the Knicks missed their final shot of the first quarter, Mobley grabbed the rebound and passed to Mitchell, who took one dribble after the buzzer and casually fired a one-handed shot from about 85 feet.

Key statistics

Garland made three of his five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Midway through the quarter, one erased the Knicks' last lead, and later he hit back-to-back shots to create an eight-point lead.
