Expect weather-related surprises this Halloween in West Michigan

1 minute, 4 seconds Read

The Halloween forecast for all of West Michigan will include some tricks and treats this year.

A cold front approaches the area on Halloween morning. This will bring a line of rain and possibly a few embedded thunderstorms – that's scary!

It should rain to our east in the early afternoon hours of Thursday.

Behind the front the wind is blowing from the west and can be gusty at times.

Wind gusts between 25 and 35 mph are expected Thursday evening. Therefore, make sure you tie down the inflatables.

This westerly flow could cause some lake-enhanced showers to develop Thursday evening.

Any showers that may develop should remain very light and patchy in nature.

The good news is that there will be no snow this Halloween.

Last year the temperatures were over 30°C and there was lake snow.

Kalamazoo received 0.5 inches of snow and areas around Muskegon received nearly 11 inches of snow.

Temperatures should stay in the 50s and 60s for Halloween trick-or-treaters this year.

Tricks

  • For trick-or-treaters, spotty light rain showers reinforced by the lake are possible
  • Thursday evening will be windy with gusts of 25-35 mph

Treats

  • For trick-or-treating, temperatures are in the 50 to 60 degree range
  • On Thursday evening it will remain mostly dry and the sky will be mostly cloudy
