Frost and freeze warnings are in effect tonight

• Frost is likely on Monday

CURRENT WARNINGS

The National Weather Service has issued frost and freeze warnings for Monday morning as temperatures drop into the 30s. Areas west of the Blue Ridge are no longer receiving freeze warnings as the growing season ended earlier this month.

THIS WEEK

• Dry weather is expected until Thursday
• Warming trend likely by the end of the week
• Spotty showers are possible on Friday

MONDAY: Areas of morning frost are likely. Lows will fall into the 30s and 40s.

Highs will warm into the 50s and 60s.

TUESDAY, THURSDAY: A large area of ​​high pressure will form in the eastern United States. High temperatures will rise above 70 and near 80 by Thursday afternoon.

HALLOWEEN EVENING: Plan for all treats and no tricks with early evening temperatures in the 60s and 70s and mostly clear skies.

FRIDAY: A cold front from the Ohio River Valley could bring patchy showers to the region Friday. It will currently remain dry in most hometowns.

AUTUMN BURNING SEASON

The fall fire season runs from October 15th to November 30th. Never burn on warm, dry, windy days and check local fire regulations in your area. If you must burn outdoors, never leave your fire unattended. Remember that about 90% of forest fires are caused by humans!

FALL LEAVES UPDATE

We're wrapping up October, which means the peak of fall foliage has arrived or is about to arrive! The Greenbrier and areas along and west of the Blue Ridge Parkway will experience peak conditions this weekend.

In other places (orange areas) the colors are changing quickly but are not quite at their peak yet. . Peak fall foliage will be reached in all areas in the next 1-2 weeks.
