World Series Game 3 secures strong viewership as Dodgers win

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured another victory in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday. 13.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the first of three possible duels in the Bronx.

That's roughly the same as the second game, which was a few million less than the first game in the series. It was also the most-watched World Series Game 3 in six years as the Dodgers took on the Boston Red Sox, drawing 13.3 million viewers.

Viewership peaked around 9 p.m. ET with 14.3 million viewers. Overall viewership increased 63% compared to last year's third game, when only 8.1 million watched the Rangers-Diamondbacks third game.

This is already the most-watched World Series in years, as would be expected given the rare East Coast-West Coast matchup between these two storied baseball franchises. According to Fox, the series averaged 14.4 million viewers across three games.

MLB Championship ratings have been declining in recent years and have reached record lows since 2020. The last time the Yankees and Dodgers played each other was 1981, and it's clear that these star-studded elite teams were just what the league needed to breathe some life back into the World Series.

The Dodgers now have a chance to defeat the Yankees and clinch the World Series title in Game 4 on Tuesday night. If that happens, it's likely that attendance for the final game will be on par with the top three.

However, things could take a really interesting turn if the Yankees get a win and extend the series, as viewership tends to grow faster from Game 5 onwards. Either way, Fox will certainly be celebrating.
