Samuel Ersson made 23 saves en route to his first shutout of the season as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the host Boston Bruins 2-0 on Tuesday.

Tyson Foerster scored the game-winning goal in the second period, and Joel Farabee added an empty-net goal in the last minute.

The Flyers have won two of their last three games following a six-game losing streak (0-5-1).

Emil Andrae provided the first assist for Foerster's opening goal. It was the first point of his career for the 22-year-old Swedish defenseman in his sixth NHL game, his second appearance this season.

Joonas Korpisalo made 17 saves for the Bruins, who have won just one of their last four games (0-3-1). This span includes two shutout losses.

Before Tuesday, the Bruins had scored at least one point in 20 consecutive home games against the Flyers since March 17, 2012.

The Bruins had a 24-19 shots advantage but finished 0-for-4 on the power play. Only three of their shots came in the third period.

Foerster broke the scoreless deadlock with 5:32 left in the second minute. Andrae slipped a pass from the half wall through traffic directly to Foerster between the circles, where a direct wrist shot beat Korpisalo.

The Bruins had a prime scoring opportunity six minutes ago, but were unable to score at 1:37 of five-on-three time.

At the other end, Korpisalo made a big save to save Garnet Hathaway, who scored a two-on-one counterattack with Scott Laughton from inside the box.

One of Ersson's best saves of the first half came with 5:21 left, when a sharp passing sequence led to Elias Lindholm getting a direct chance at the left post.

Ersson didn't see a shot on goal on either of Boston's last two power plays, including attempts in the second and third frames.

In the opening minutes of the third period, the Flyers' 19-year-old star Matvei Michkov attempted a lacrosse-style goal but was thwarted by Korpisalo while Ersson pounced on a loose puck that Brad Marchand caught in a moment behind the goal line -handed sequence.
