Utah Jazz vs Sacramento Kings summary and final score

2 minutes, 41 seconds Read

With the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings both down in back-to-back games, the Kings emerged victorious 113-96.

Sacramento's top talent and experienced role players were too much for the Jazz. Domantas Sabonis was dominant with 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists, while DeMar DeRozan scored 20 and De'Aaron Fox 19 points.

Despite the great nights from the Kings' three stars, Utah had some highlights to be excited about in this game.

Utah started well here with an early lead. It has been a trend over the last four games that the Jazz start the game strong and even take the lead at times, but when they make their substitutions they start to fall behind. You can tell that they go into games with a good game plan, good ball movement and a solid defensive game. But as the game goes on, inexperience and lack of top-line talent causes the Jazz to give up too many points and turnovers.

The biggest story here is that Lauri Markkanen had to leave early due to back spasms.

After losing Taylor Hendricks, an injury to Markkanen will be extremely difficult to overcome. However, the Jazz have nothing to worry about as the goal of this season was to develop youth.

And development is taking place. Keyonte George has struggled shooting the ball this season, but he has done a good job moving the ball offensively. Tonight he had the best performance of his career with 11 assists, a nice sign for the young guard who is learning to be a point guard in the NBA. The shot isn't there yet and the turnovers are high, but it's nice to see him figuring out the passing game.

Cody Williams hit his first three-pointer of the season and it seemed to help calm his nerves. He finished the game with 3/6 from three goals, which bodes well for the rest of the season. Williams also moved the ball within the offense, keeping the offense flowing. It's clear that Williams is a smart player who wants to make winning plays, he just has to be selfish at times in order to evolve.

Due to injuries to Taylor Hendricks and Lauri Markkanen, Kyle Filipowski had a lot of time. “Flip” showed some nice signs with good shooting and driving hard to the rim. He shot 5/10 from the field and 2/5 from three, scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Not bad in his first real NBA minutes.

Finally, it's important to note that Walker Kessler is playing well with the Jazz, much better than he did in his second season. So far this season, Kessler has proven that his rookie season was no fluke. The question is: can he maintain this level of play?

That being said, the Jazz lost pretty badly, making this a perfect game type. They are seeing signs of youth development while improving draft position. By the way, Utah is currently ranked No. 1 in the lottery.
