Pittsburgh's Halloween weather will hold few tricks but plenty of treats

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The heat actually arrived yesterday if you don't go outside all day.

High temperatures reached 78° yesterday, just two degrees shy of the record high of 80° set in 1900. Today's record high is 82°, which was also set in 1900.

Morning temperatures today will bottom in the mid to upper 50s for most. Skies will be partly cloudy with light winds coming from the southwest. I have midday temperatures in the low 70s.

Did you know that there is a medically diagnosed condition for people who have an unusually high and persistent fear of heat, including hot weather? Its clinical name is thermophobia. I don't think people afraid of the heat will be going to the emergency room this Halloween, but the weather might be the worst part.

The record high for Halloween in Pittsburgh is 79°, which dates back to 1950. I reached 80° for us.

Our next chance of rain will come late Thursday evening into the overnight hours. While I can't guarantee you'll stay dry during trick-or-treating, there will be scattered and light rain at this time. Our rainfall total will likely only be about a tenth of an inch.

Thermophobes rejoice, your October fears will be gone as November begins.

On Friday temperatures will drop to just over 50°C, with windy in the morning. Friday's lows will reach just before midnight on Saturday, with lows in the low 40s, reaching lows of around 38 degrees on Saturday. Saturday looks dry and seasonal, with highs around 60 degrees.

There is now a chance of rain until Sunday, with light showers expected.
