The threat of severe weather will increase across North Texas overnight Wednesday

Clouds hung over North Texas Wednesday morning as Gulf moisture continued to flow north.

Expect a warm and windy day with temperatures rising into the mid-80s across most of North Texas. A few isolated showers cannot be ruled out. A cold front will move into North Texas later Wednesday evening and the chance of storms will increase.

A weather warning is in effect for possible strong to severe storms overnight and overnight. Some of the storms could reach severe proportions and there is a slight risk of severe storms north of I-20.

There is a chance of a few isolated showers throughout the day, with a few isolated storms developing late afternoon into the evening.

The higher coverage for storms comes late Wednesday evening as the surface cold front moves into North Texas. The storm will move through the Metroplex between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m

By sunrise, most of the rain and storms are expected to move into East Texas and by midday clouds should clear, leaving North Texas in for plenty of sunshine and a beautiful fall day.

Weather warnings for forecast rain and storms are in effect for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Another cold front is on the way Monday into Monday night, expected to bring more rain, but activity should taper off by Election Day. It won't be a completely dry election day, so have your umbrella ready while you cast your vote.
