Rain is on the way for Halloween

Rain is on the way for Halloween

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – We broke the temperature record yesterday and have a good chance of doing it again today!

Highs will reach 80° this afternoon, which if it changes will surpass the previous record of 79° set in 1950. The sky will remain partly cloudy today and it will be windy! Winds can reach speeds of over 50 km/h in places, so beware!

It will continue to be windy on Halloween, but the bigger danger is that there could be some showers with an approaching cold front. It appears that the rain will be knocking on our front door in the morning and will move from west to east as the afternoon progresses. Most of the rain should taper off by the late afternoon/early evening hours. We might avoid a few drops of rain as trick-or-treaters head out, but most of the rain should leave the region. As we work into the night on Halloween, the clouds slowly move in and the wind dies down overnight.

Friday will remain dry with mostly sunny skies, and we'll stick with sunny conditions to start the weekend, with highs in the upper 50s both days. There will be heavier rain from Sunday to Tuesday.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, windy; Low 67; Wind S ~ 15, G 30

Halloween: Scattered showers, windy; High 71; Wind S 15-20, G 30-40
