LIVE: Dodgers are 3 outs away from World Series title

2 minutes, 35 seconds Read

The Los Angeles Dodgers are just three outs away from potentially winning their eighth World Series in franchise history.

As of the ninth inning, the Dodgers have a 7-6 lead over the New York Yankees.

Trailing by five runs in the fifth, the Dodgers made the most of an error by Aaron Judge and a misplay between Anthony Rizzo and Gerrit Cole to score five runs. The rally came after the Yankee bats chased Jack Flaherty early in the game – with the former Harvard Westlake pitcher giving up two home runs to New Yorkers Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the first inning and then allowing an RBI hit following Inning.

The Yankees then added their fifth run on a home run by Giancarlo Stanton in the third inning. Their sixth and final run comes from an RBI sacrifice fly by Giancarlo Stanton that scores Juan Soto.

The Dodgers, leading the best-of-7-game series 3-1, are one win away from winning their first World Series since 2020, the eighth in franchise history. In addition to competing for the Commissioner's Trophy, a Dodger victory means Los Angeles will host an in-person World Series parade for the first time since 1988.

When the Dodgers last won the Fall Classic against the Tampa Bay Rays in the COVID-19 bubble in Arlington, Texas, in 2020, fans at home in Southern California were deprived of an in-person parade due to the pandemic.
