Salma Hayek admits she feels financial “pressure” from marrying a billionaire

Salma Hayek proves that she is an independent woman.

The Mexican-American actress, 58, spoke openly about her financial independence despite being married to billionaire François-Henri Pinault, 62.

“I support many aspects of my life and myself,” Hayek told The Wall Street Journal in a cover interview. “I have pressure to make a certain amount of money and I like that. And now I’ve decided I want to earn more.”

The “Frida” actress admitted that she and her billionaire husband “keep their finances separate” and “there is no prenuptial agreement dividing assets.”

Hayek herself grew up in a wealthy family in the coastal town of Coatzacoalcos, as her father was an oil executive of Lebanese descent and her mother was an opera singer.

SALMA HAYEK stuns in bikini pictures and feels “renewed” after diving into the sea.

However, the Oscar-nominated actress admitted that she suffered hardships when she moved to Los Angeles in her mid-20s. Hayek's father lost his fortune and she was a difficult actress.

She added that she was struggling with the stress of supporting herself and her family in Mexico.

“That’s when I became the best version of myself,” Hayek noted.

Hayek rose to Hollywood fame after starring in the 1995 film “Desperado.” She then played the lead role in “From Dusk Till Dawn” and her breakthrough came in the 1997 film “Fools Rush In”.

Despite having Hollywood money of her own, Hayek married French businessman Pinault in 2009. Pinault's company owns luxury brands including Gucci and Saint Laurent.

Hayek said that during their 15-year marriage there were certain aspects of extreme wealth that surprised her.

“For me, the exciting thing about having a lot of money was that I didn't have to think about money, and it turned out that people just wanted to talk to me about money,” she explained after marrying into the Pinault family . “Strangers come to me who aren’t even friends, but they think we should be friends because they’re rich too.”

The couple has one child together, daughter Valentina, 17. Hayek is also stepmother to Pinault's son with Linda Evangelista, Augustin, “Auggie,” and his children from his first marriage, François and Mathilde.
