New Jersey Weather: This could be our warmest Halloween in decades. Check out the records that need to be beaten.

We don't expect any complaints from trick-or-treaters this year, as plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures are forecast for Halloween 2024 in the New Jersey area.

According to the National Weather Service, some parts of our region could even reach record highs on October 31st.

As trick-or-treaters hit the streets, afternoon temperatures Thursday are expected to climb to very near 80 degrees in many areas and possibly a few degrees above, breaking weather records that have stood since the 1940s.

The Hottest Halloween Highs Ever

In the Newark area, the warmest Halloween high was 82 degrees, set back in 1946. The Halloween record is 81 degrees in the Trenton area and 83 degrees in the Atlantic City area.

These records were also set in 1946 – the same year record Halloween temperatures were set in Philadelphia (82 degrees) and New York's Central Park (81 degrees), according to the National Weather Service.

Of note: The normal high temperature for October 31st is between 60 and 62 degrees in our area, so Thursday temperatures could be about 20 degrees warmer than usual.
