Luke Wilson returns to the world of Legally blonde!

The 53-year-old actor made a surprise appearance on the Halloween episode of Today show on Thursday, October 31, in which he reprized his role as Emmett Richmond from the popular romantic comedy alongside Savannah Guthrie as Elle Woods.

Guthrie, 52, recreated the famous scene where Emmett first meets Elle (famously played in the 2001 film and its 2003 Reese Witherspoon sequel) and appeared in the Harvard-bound student's signature pink court getup. became a law student, complete with a stuffed dog Bruiser.

“You have Stromwell, don't you?” Wilson, as Emmett, asked a stressed-looking Elle and continued, just like in the movie: “She made me cry once. I mean, not in class – I waited until I got back to my room.” But yeah, she'll kick your ass right -”

“Oh, do you want some nuts?” Guthrie joked, pulling out a bag of the salty snacks.

After reciting more lines from the scene — and highlighting Elle's pink-scented resume (“I think it just adds that little something extra, doesn't it?” Guthrie said) — the host introduced Witherspoon's famous “bend and snap” move perfect after the first film.

“Works every time,” she said before the two pretended to leave and have coffee together.

Later in the episode, Guthrie and her co-hosts – who, as always, went all out for the holidays and dressed up as characters from cult films Beetlejuice, Titanic, Bring it on, Mrs. Doubtfire, Austin Powers, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy And Beverly Hills police officer for this year's “VHS Rewind” theme – spoke with Wilson about the future of the Legally blonde Universe.

After revealing to Guthrie and Hoda Kotb that he was “nervous” about reprising his role on the show and joked that it was “the best thing I've ever done on Broadway,” the actor admitted that he the lines “didn’t come back to me” were as simple as one might think – and also praised how “committed” Witherspoon, 48, was to the role of Elle in the films.

Additionally, he praised Guthrie for her bending and snapping motion: “The shape was just right.”

For now a Legally blonde Spinoff series titled Elle, is produced by Witherspoon's production company Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios. The actress and producer even put out a casting call for a high school version of Elle Woods for the show last month.

As for a third film: “I talked to Reese and some of the other cast members a few years ago,” Wilson told Guthrie Today show earlier this year. “I think anyone would be willing to do that. But Reese is such a sharp person and I think she just wants to make sure the script is really good when it gets done.”
