If you ever wonder what time of year it is, all you need to do is cast your eyes west to the Santa Monica Pier, where the Pacific Wheel likely shimmers with enduring and beloved symbols of the season.

The giant solar-powered Ferris wheel honored the Dodgers and their World Series victory on Oct. 30 with a splash of blue baseball imagery and love for LA.

Now, 90-foot-tall pumpkins will appear on the evening of October 31st, followed by sugar skulls in honor of Día de los Muertos on the nights of November 2nd-3rd.

This is all free to see if you are on or near the pier; Keep in mind that the Pacific Wheel ride is a paid adventure (you can purchase your tickets once you're in Pacific Park).

But don't worry if you can't be at the Santa Monica landmark between sunset and 12:30 a.m. on these evenings. There's a free webcam to try out, sweetie.

Oh yes: And there will be a fun Día de los Muertos celebration at Santa Monica Pier on November 1st from 5pm to 8pm and November 2nd from 5pm to 10pm.

Look for “public art installations, live performances, and interactive activities,” as well as offerings that visitors can expand upon as needed.

It takes place in the historic and magical Merry Go Round building, which will be decorated with papel picado and other decorations to pay tribute to the emotional occasion.
