With the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it is already EA's biggest single-player game on Steam to date. It tops the charts, surpassing 2023's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor competitors.

At the time of publication, Dragon Age: The Veilguard's peak count was around 70,414 concurrent plays, putting it just outside the top 10 most played games on the platform with mostly positive reviews. It's one spot ahead of Baldur's Gate 3, which continues to enjoy continued success thanks to the introduction of mods and other new features. EA's previous high was Jedi Survivor, which reached an all-time high of 67,855.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson predicted success for Dragon Age during Tuesday's earnings call, saying that BioWare has “returned to its strengths” and that the company will face limited competition thanks to Ubisoft's decision to delay Assassin's Creed Shadows will benefit.

We wrote in our own review: “Dragon Age: The Veilguard refreshes and revitalizes a storied series that has stumbled through its middle years, leaving no doubt that it deserves its place in the RPG pantheon. The next Mass Effect will have a very good one. “It's a difficult act to follow, and one I could never have imagined before embarking on this adventure.”

Overall, it's a solid start for BioWare's new RPG, considering it launched on a day when most of its fans are either at work or school. It's worth keeping an eye on performance ahead of the first full weekend as players delve deeply into the first new Dragon Age release since 2014.
