One person died and two were injured in a shooting at a mall in Vancouver, Washington, on Thursday evening, according to Vancouver police.

The suspect is still at large and officials warn he may be armed.

At a news conference livestreamed by KGW, Vancouver police spokesperson Kim Kapp said that around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police received a call about a disturbance at the Vancouver Mall where shots may have been fired.

They later heard from several witnesses that a person had shot another person in the food court area of ​​the mall.

That person “fired several more shots, striking two additional individuals,” Kapp said.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a person dead. The other two people injured in the shooting were taken to area hospitals. Police have not released any information about her condition.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police said there was no longer an active threat inside the mall and that anyone who sought shelter there could safely leave the mall through any exit.

Families were at the mall attending a Halloween trick-or-treating event when the shooting occurred. Kapp said she was not aware of any reports of children being injured.

There is no information yet about why the shooting occurred or whether the suspect knew the victims.
