Singer Mariah the Scientist sat diligently in the stands at many of Young Thug's court appearances regarding the RICO charges against him in Georgia. After Thug, born Jeffery Williams, is released following a deal, she celebrates his return.

“Thank God, thank God. This is more than what we prayed for,” Mariah, the scientist, said in a statement texted to WSB-TV reporter Michael Seiden in Atlanta. “We are so grateful, this is the greatest opportunity we have ever been given and we are so grateful. Thank you, Judge Paige Whitaker, for giving us the opportunity to move forward with our lives! Thank God. Thank you to Brian Steel and Keith Adams and to all the attorneys who are working tirelessly on this case. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I can't say it enough, I can't repay you. You changed our lives, Jeffery's life and mine. Thank you to everyone who was there for us, every fan who believed in us and prayed for us.”

On the evening of Thug's release, Mariah the Scientist performed in Brooklyn on Latto's Sugar Honey Iced Tea tour. On stage, she tearfully acknowledged the victory with a prayer. “It took a really long time and it was really hard,” she said. “There were people who told me I would never see him again. There were people who laughed at me and the situation and made fun of us. This shit is so fucking crazy, man,” she said, before seemingly catching herself cursing.

“This is meant to be a prayer,” she said before addressing her message to the public. “All the motherfuckers that doubted me and this shit and said this nigga would never come back, fuck everyone. What are you going to say now, bitch?” Typically, Mariah sends a “Free Thug” message at her shows, but last night she said she needed to change that. “Let's just make it to the end so I can get on this jet!” she added.

In a recent interview on WNBA star Angel Reese's podcast, the singer joined Latto to discuss the beauty and difficulty of her relationship with Thug, which began in 2021. “He’s been locked up for longer now than we were locked up in a relationship before he got together,” she said. “I see him in court, so I go to court. Sometimes I fall asleep there. I just go breathe his air.”

Mariah the Scientist has spent much of the last two years touring with artists like Rod Wave, Future and Coldplay. She released her debut EP on SoundCloud in 2018 and has since released three studio albums: master, Ry Ry worldAnd Being eaten alive. She and Young Thug have two songs together, 2022's “Walked In” and 2023's “Ride.” Last year, Thug responded to her song “From a Woman” with his own song “From a Man.”
