The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced another major milestone in its efforts to restore power supply in the northern region of the country.

In a new statement signed on Friday by the company's General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, full power supply has been restored to Damaturu in Yobe and Maiduguri in Borno State.

This development followed the repair of the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV transmission line.

It further stated that power supply was restored on the Gombe – Damaturu route at around 7:25pm on Wednesday, October 30.

While on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at around 2:01 p.m., partial supply was recorded on the Damaturu – Maiduguri (Molai) route.

Recall that Tower 372 along the 330 kV transmission line was destroyed on September 22, 2024.

The statement said: “The Transmission Company of Nigeria has restored full power supply to the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV transmission line.

“The destroyed tower was rebuilt and the bracing of the line was completed on October 23, 2024 at approximately 12:48 p.m.

“However, due to the vandalism on the Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line, TCN was unable to immediately restore power supply to the line.

“However, power supply along the Gombe – Damaturu – Maiduguri 330kV transmission line has been fully restored,” it added.

The company also sought the help of Nigerians to curb vandalism of electricity infrastructure for the benefit of the economy.

“TCN once again calls on the public to join the fight against vandalism of power facilities to secure the future of electricity in Nigeria.

“Please report suspicious activities around transmission facilities to security forces or TCN offices nationwide.”
