Oklahoma State and Arizona State with long blitz delay

1 minute, 20 seconds Read

It will take some time before the duel between Oklahoma State and Arizona State resumes.

After the Sun Devils took a 21-14 halftime lead, the teams headed to the locker rooms for a normal half. However, as the teams prepared for the second half, the game was suspended due to a lightning strike in the area.

Multiple reports suggest play won't resume until at least 7 p.m. The Cowboys and Sun Devils also experienced some rain in their non-conference meeting in Stillwater in 2022, but it did not cause a delay.

According to Big 12 rules, if the game cannot continue due to these conditions, Arizona State's 21-14 halftime lead will be the final score. The score is considered final when at least two quarters have been played.

While that would be a drastic move, it would be a fitting way for OSU to exit Week 10 still looking for a Big 12 win. This is of course unlikely and the game will almost certainly continue if it is possible.

However, the Cowboys' homecoming crowd won't have anything close to its normal impact in the second half. With a significant number of fans leaving the game with a delay of more than three hours, the Cowboys must make up a touchdown deficit with little fan support left.

UPDATE: The game is scheduled to resume at 7 p.m
