Vice President Kamala Harris will reportedly make a “surprise appearance” on “Saturday Night Live” tonight.

According to sources who spoke to the Associated Press and the New York Post, the Democratic candidate will appear on the show's final episode Saturday night before Tuesday's election.

“It was all hush-hush,” a source told the New York Post on Saturday, adding that “the Secret Service is here.”

Harris was portrayed in the series by Maya Rudolph, who is no longer a cast member but returned this election cycle to portray the Democratic candidate.

The appearance is likely to be an opportunity for Harris to promote herself, as the left-leaning show has made no secret of its disdain for her opponent, former President Trump.

A Reuters correspondent reported on Saturday that Harris aides told traveling reporters that Air Force Two had been diverted in mid-air from Detroit to New York City, where SNL was being shot.

“They wouldn’t share what the vice president was doing late Saturday night in New York City. “I suspect Harris will appear on Saturday Night Live,” wrote reporter Nandita Bose.

“SNL” has a long history with Trump, hosting the show in 2004 and again in 2015 when he was a presidential candidate. The show parodied him mercilessly and hoped for his defeat. The cast memorably broke down over his 2016 election win and the show openly cheered when he lost in 2020.

The Trump campaign disparaged her appearance in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Kamala Harris has nothing of substance to offer the American people, so she lives out her distorted fantasy playing on Saturday Night Leftists with her elite friends while her campaign fades into obscurity. For four years, Kamala's destructive policies have been “She broke it, and President Trump will fix it,” said spokesman Steven Cheung.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Harris campaign for comment.

Last month, SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels suggested that none of the presidential candidates would appear this season. He said he had not committed to either campaign, citing the need for “equal time” for both campaigns as an obstacle.

“Because of election laws and equal opportunity regulations, you can't bring the actual candidates,” Michaels said. “You can’t have the major candidates without having all the candidates, and there are a lot of minor candidates who are only on the ballot in about three states, and that gets really complicated.”

However, he did not rule out that one of them could appear after the election, when they no longer run for the presidency.

The Republican chairman of the Federal Communications Commission accused NBC, the broadcaster of SNL, of trying to violate the FCC's equal-time rule.

The purpose of the regulation is to prevent exactly this kind of biased and partisan behavior – a licensed broadcaster using the public airwaves to exert influence on a candidate's behalf on the eve of an election. Unless the broadcaster offered the same time to other qualifying campaigns,” he wrote on X.
