Jayson Tatum wasted no time walking off the floor at Spectrum Center on Saturday night after the Celtics put the finishing touches on a 113-103 win over the Hornets. All eyes were on the All-Star after he was bulldozed by former teammate Grant Williams for a flagrant 2 foul in the closing moments of Friday's victory.

Williams was sent off for the infraction, giving the pair their first opportunity to interact publicly after the borderline cheap shot on Saturday night. However, Tatum declined to greet his former teammate on the court and maintained that attitude as he spoke to reporters in Charlotte after the game.

Tatum, who scored 29 points in the win, did not speak to reporters Friday night after the interaction. When Tatum was asked to talk about the situation Saturday night, he dodged the Williams question.

“I don’t really want to talk about it,” Tatum said of Kayla Burton to reporters in Charlotte. “We prepared for the game today, came to Charlotte and did what we were supposed to do. We’re heading to Atlanta to try and get another win before we go home.”

Williams and Tatum reportedly spoke after the interaction on Friday, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe. However, Tatum denied that there was any extra drive in Saturday's game to get revenge on his former teammate.

“It’s never about one person for me,” Tatum said. “I understand who I am in this league and I’m going to go out there and play the right way. It's not about a matchup or anything. Just come out, try to dominate, give my team the best chance to win and play the right way, whether it's scoring, rebounding or shielding other players. The goal is to give ourselves the best chance of winning, so it doesn’t depend on situations or other people.”

Tatum was also praised by Joe Mazzulla after the hard foul for how he handled the situation in the moment.

“I’m glad (Tatum) is OK,” Mazzulla said. “What I like most is how he jumped up straight away, didn't lie around and it didn't really faze him. He just got up, went to the foul line and did his business. …To get hit like that, to pop right back up, that’s a huge deal.”

Tatum has been a model of consistency for the Celtics in seven games all year, averaging a team-best 30.3 points on 48.2 percent shooting from the field. It's clear he's anxious not to let the Williams duel affect his mentality, and he did that with a team-high 29 points in Saturday's win.
