Warmer and rainy end to the week

It's a relatively calm day across New Mexico. Conditions for Halloween night are good, if not a little chilly.

Temperatures today are still trending slightly cooler than average. This is still due to the cold front that moved through New Mexico on Tuesday. The resulting cold air settled over the state. This was particularly evident this morning as temperatures fell below freezing. Today's high temperatures will tend to be slightly cooler than average for most. Low temperatures will still be cool tonight, but won't quite reach freezing for most.

The state remains dry to this day. A few clouds may move through the area this evening and overnight. Rain is not expected to cause disruption to trick-or-treating across New Mexico this evening. Sunset will be at 6:13 p.m

Moisture will move into eastern New Mexico on Friday. This moisture will bring patchy to isolated storms to eastern New Mexico on Friday and throughout the day on Saturday. These storms can bring heavy rainfall and become severe storms. The threat will be limited to eastern New Mexico on Friday and Saturday.

The next fall storm system will move across New Mexico on Sunday. This low pressure system will cool temperatures and bring more rain to the state. The chance of rain on Sunday and Monday is high almost nationwide. This storm system will also bring snow back to the mountains. New Mexico is expected to dry out again by the middle of next week.
