Rams Star explains careless movement and ejection

2 minutes, 8 seconds Read

The Los Angeles Rams picked up an overtime win against the Seattle Seahawks and jumped from last place in the NFC West to second place. After starting the season 1-4, the Rams are back in the division race.

That means they are in the running for a playoff spot even with a makeshift squad that has suffered numerous injuries.

However, on Sunday against the Seahawks, the Rams had to play again without one of their best players, who recently returned from injury. Although wide receiver Puka Nacua did not miss any more playing time due to injury, he did miss the second half of Sunday's game due to a rash move he made in the first half.

Just before halftime, the Rams trailed the Seahawks 6-3. Matthew Stafford dropped back to throw, but his pass to Nacua was intercepted by the Seahawks. On the return, a Seahawks defensive back continued to block Nacua, which the receiver didn't like at all.

During the game, Nacua made his emotions known and lashed out at the Seahawks defender, which was obviously seen and noted by the officials. Nacua was subsequently ejected from the game and the Rams were forced to finish a crucial NFC West matchup without one of their best players.

After being ejected, the stunned Nacua remained on the sideline for a moment before eventually making his way to the locker room. Nacua finished the game with one reception on four receptions for 11 yards, which was likely one of the reasons for his frustration.

A subpar performance through no fault of his own in a game the Rams absolutely had to win was apparently too much for Nacua. According to ESPN's Sarah Barshop, Nacua had a “helpless feeling” as he watched the Rams finish the game without him.

He called his punishment and expulsion a “learning experience.” The talented receiver admitted that he let his emotions get the best of him.

The Rams have already missed Nacua for most of this season, and their 1-4 start showed just how dire that situation is. While Nacua's passion for the game should undoubtedly be appreciated, he needs to keep his emotions under control going forward.

At 4-4 and in the thick of the NFC West race, the Rams can't afford to take the field without Nacua too often this season.
